Freshness and precision

Vin de France 100% Chardonnay

The first vintage made by Benoît Trocard was a chardonnay (for a vineyard in Yarra Valley, Australia). Since the beginning of the Clos Dubreuil adventure, he wanted to produce a great white wine. He mulled over the idea for a few years and planted chardonnay in 2011 under the influence of Ralph who is a fan of this grape variety. He was the only one at that time in the region to do so, which gave him a lot of leeway. The first harvest took place in 2013 and is the end result of a challenge.

This wine, perfect with gourmet cuisine, is appreciated for its citrus notes such as grapefruit, lemon and tangerine which are typical of chardonnay. Both tasty and well-defined, salinity appears in the finish revealing the soil’s character. Its barrel maturation time is voluntarily reduced to preserve the grape variety’s typicity.

A wine that expresses the soil’s salinity

Tasting Review
REFRESHING AND PRECISE

“100% Chardonnay. Dark yellow, quite intense, bright on the edges. Spicy bouquet with notes of resin and pine. Typical expression of a Chardonnay. On the palate, subtle extraction, spicy fruits. A fascinating wine which shows that producing a Chardonnay in the Bordeaux region can be exciting!”

2021 Vintage

Chardonnay has never been harvested so late at Clos Dubreuil, as the harvest took place on September 10th and 14th, 2021. The wine was aged for 10 months in barrels (30% new and 70% wine previously used for ageing). The bouquet is subtle and very inspired by the varietal via yellow fruit nuances and lime followed by nuances of flintstone. It has a lively and refreshing attack. The wine is balanced, slightly creamy and well-sustained by its acidity which makes it pleasantly refreshing thanks to the low pH.

It has a juicy, refreshing and persistent finish
